Jacob Epstein is one of the greatest sculptors of all time.
Anyone who produced:
'Rock Drill' in 1914
can rest on their laurels as the sculptor of one of the greatest sculptures ever made. But Epstein went on to produce so many more works of genius:
Carvings including 'Jacob and the Angel'
[at the Tate Gallery].
Perhaps his greatest achievement was as a modeller in clay, cast in bronze:
Heads -Busts -Figures bursting with life.
He was very popular throughout his lifetime and particularly so during the 1950s and 1960s when his bronzes sold for huge amounts of money.
